Army Flag-Bearers Gorget
A magnificent example of this extremely rare gorget; a large 7 ¾ x 5” half moon shaped gorget plate formed from a heavy metal alloy with a reinforced lip-border;  the one piece center emblem  depicts 2 Crossed Standarts with 4 Streamers &  finely detailed Oak leaves at the lower center; surmounting this is a massive, high relief Heer Eagle & Swastika all in a dark antique silver color; a decorative boss with 3 finely detailed oak leaves is mounted in each top corner also finished in a dark antique silver color while the background of the plate is a dull silver color; plate shows age tarnishing only; chain comprises a double sided, multi link type that is extremely well detailed with alternating links of Heer Eagles and Oak leaf sprigs also finished in a dark antiques silver; there are a total of 21 links and uniquely,  the 21st link, centered behind the neck during wear, being a single ROUND design bearing an oak leaf sprig;  reverse having a fine green wool backing showing some mothing; maker marked to center silver-plated tang” “C.E.Junker, Berlin”;  overall-the dark antique silver areas retain 95% finish; this is an uncleaned example in excellent condition-(As shown on Page 92 of the Deeter Gorget Book)
