Early tropical issue cork helmet with white canvas outer covering and tan and red interior; maker marked on brass crown vent; size marked 57 on wide leather sweatband; helmet retains 98% of its white leather edging which is often gone from this type of pith helmet; white chin strap is mint and properly fixed; all fastening pins in liner present; Original to helmet-large silver Navy Eagle to front with correct 3 prong placement; Eagle is highly detailed and retaining much of its original finish; except for some light water staining (that may clean with woolite) this is an exceptional, original Navy pith helmet .
